The #RespectTheWest BET Cypher aired this past Tuesday during the BET Hip-Hop Awards. Snoop Dogg, DJ Quik, E-40, Kurupt, Xzibit, Kendrick Lamar & YG all layed down some rhymes in celebration of the West coast’s past and future. WestFestTV has now shared some behind the scenes footage of the cypher shoot.

Video: BET Hip-Hop Awards Cypher Spoof (Ft. Kendrick Lamar, Waka Flocka, Rick Ross, Big Sean, Jay-Z & DMX)
The BET Hip-Hop Award cyphers are always the most popular part of the show. This year, Grand Hustle, Mac Miller, A$AP Rocky, Hopsin, and Childish Gambino participated in the cyphers. Comedian Justin Hires and his comedy team weren’t pleased with the performers so they took it upon themselves and made their own cypher.

Video: BET Hip-Hop Award Cyphers: The Warm Up (1-3)
The BET Hip-Hop Awards will air on October 9th and so will most of the cyphers. BET has now released The Warm Up cyphers in anticipation for next week’s show. The Warm Up cyphers showcase young hip-hop acts like Tito Lopez, Brianna Perry, The Kid Daytona, K’LA, Core Masson, Kosha Dillz, Lil Niqo, and Lil Chuckee.
BET Issues Statement Addressing Hip-Hop Award Fights
The BET Hip-Hop Awards didn’t exactly go as planned for the BET network. Violence tainted the show when a brawl between Young Jeezy and Rick Ross broke out backstage. Afterwards, Gunplay got into a fist fight with someone from 50 Cent’s crew. Earlier reports even reported gun shots being fired, but TMZ has since shot down the rumors.

Video: 2 Chainz Rehearses For BET Hip-Hop Awards Performance
Not only does 2 Chainz rhyme big booty with big booty, he also plays the piano. Mr. Chainz will be playing the piano during his performance at the BET Hip-Hop Awards where he will hit a few keys and then jump up for “I’m Different.” HipHollywood caught footage of 2 Chainz’ rehearsal for the show.
Jasmine Simpkins also spoke to BET’s President of Programming, Stephen Hill, about Chris Lighty’s tribute. 50 Cent, Fat Joe, and Diddy are all said to be participating in a tribute to the late Chris Lighty. The award show will air next TRUesday October 9th at 8/7c.
