Opium Interview at Roll Deep's No Comment Star Launch Party
· By Killerhiphop.com
KillerHipHop's Amanda Star caught up with rapper Opium at Roll Deep's launch party for their mixtape No Comment Star, held on the Boxpark rooftop in Shoreditch, London. Opium appears on the track "Palava" from the mixtape and performed it at the show. The interview was filmed by KillerHipHopTV as an exclusive.
On stage with Roll Deep
Opium describes sharing the mic with Roll Deep as a blessing. He admits it might sound like a cliché, but he grew up listening to the crew on the radio as a kid, so reaching the point where they know him, rate his ability and bring him on stage means a lot.
He explains that he treats Roll Deep like family and is often around when they are in the studio. His features came about naturally: an instrumental would be playing, everyone in the room would react to it, and he happened to be there at the right time.
An EP on the way
Looking ahead, Opium says he was working on his own EP, with a few guest features already lined up. He hadn't decided yet whether it would be a free download or a release he would sell, but said that would be sorted in due time.
Olympic banter
The second half of the clip turns into a light-hearted debate. The party came just after Usain Bolt's race, and talk soon moves to how Ghana and Turkey were doing at the Olympics, with plenty of jokes about food, culture and training. The verdict is that both countries need to work hard for Brazil 2016.
Opium closes the interview by thanking KillerHipHop and asking viewers to follow him on Twitter.
