Privacy Policy

Last updated: 23 October 2026

This policy explains what personal data is processed when you visit KillerHipHop, why, and the choices and rights you have. We have kept it short because the site collects very little.

Who we are

KillerHipHop (killerhiphop.com) is a collection of hip-hop interviews, videos and articles, run from the United Kingdom. KillerHipHop (“we”, “us”) is the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. You can contact us about anything in it at info@killerhiphop.com.

The short version

  • There are no accounts, comments, newsletters, forms, adverts or analytics on this site.
  • The site itself does not set cookies.
  • Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, processes your IP address and basic request details so it can deliver pages and protect the site.
  • Some pages contain YouTube, SoundCloud or Vimeo players. None of these players loads until you click play. YouTube preview images come from YouTube's image server; SoundCloud and Vimeo preview images are stored on our own site.
  • We do not keep emails: if you write to us, we read your message, deal with it and then delete it.

What we collect, how and why

When you visit the site

The site is a set of static pages served by Cloudflare. As with any website, each request your browser makes includes technical information such as your IP address, the page requested, the date and time, your browser and device type, and the referring page. Cloudflare processes this to deliver the page, to keep the service running and to detect and block attacks and abuse. We do not use this information to identify you or to build a profile of you.

Lawful basis: our legitimate interests in running a secure, working website (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(f)).

When you email us

If you email us, we receive your email address, your name if you include it, and whatever you write. We use it only to read your message, reply and deal with what you asked (for example a copyright or correction request). Once it has been dealt with, we delete the email and our reply. We do not keep or store emails long-term, add you to any mailing list, or keep a separate record of who has contacted us.

Lawful basis: our legitimate interests in responding to the people who contact us, or taking steps at your request.

What we do not do

We do not run analytics or tracking tools, show adverts, sell or share personal data for marketing, or make automated decisions about you. If we ever add analytics we will update this policy first and ask for consent where the law requires it.

Embedded content from other companies

Many articles include videos or audio hosted by YouTube, SoundCloud or Vimeo. To protect your privacy, every one of these players is shown as a click-to-play preview: the player is not loaded, and your browser does not connect to the company's player, until you click play. When you do, your browser connects to their servers, which receive your IP address and browser details. These companies act as independent controllers of the data they collect, under their own privacy policies.

YouTube (Google)

Before you press play, a YouTube video is shown as a preview image loaded from YouTube's image server (i.ytimg.com), so Google receives your IP address and browser details, but no YouTube player is loaded. The player loads only when you click play, using YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com). Once the video plays, YouTube and Google may set cookies or use similar technologies, and may link the viewing to your Google account if you are signed in. See Google's privacy policy.

SoundCloud

A small number of articles include a SoundCloud audio track. Before you press play, it is shown as a preview with the track title and artwork, and the artwork is stored on our own site, so nothing is sent to SoundCloud. The SoundCloud player loads only when you click play. From then on SoundCloud may set cookies or collect data. See SoundCloud's privacy policy.

Vimeo

Some articles include a Vimeo video. Before you press play, it is shown as a preview image stored on our own site, so nothing is sent to Vimeo. The Vimeo player loads only when you click play, and we load it with Vimeo's "do not track" setting, which tells Vimeo not to set tracking cookies or record session data. Vimeo still receives your IP address and browser details once the player loads. See Vimeo's privacy policy.

Other images

A few older articles display an image hosted on another website. Loading it sends your IP address and browser details to that website.

Cookies

KillerHipHop does not set any cookies of its own and does not use local storage to track you. Cloudflare may set a strictly necessary security cookie (such as __cf_bm) to tell genuine visitors apart from automated traffic. Under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) this does not need consent. Third-party players may set their own cookies as described above. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site still works if you do, although some embedded players may not.

How long we keep data

  • Hosting and security logs: kept by Cloudflare for a limited period under its own retention policies. We do not keep separate copies.
  • Emails: not kept. We read your email, deal with it and then delete it (along with our reply). We do not store emails long-term or keep an archive of correspondence.

International transfers

Cloudflare, Google (YouTube), SoundCloud and Vimeo may process data outside the UK and the European Economic Area, including in the United States. Where they do, they rely on recognised safeguards such as the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework (the "UK–US data bridge"), the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, or standard contractual clauses with the UK International Data Transfer Addendum.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law, including the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, you have the right to:

  • Access: ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Rectification: ask us to correct data that is wrong or incomplete.
  • Erasure: ask us to delete your data.
  • Restriction: ask us to limit how we use your data.
  • Objection: object to processing based on our legitimate interests.
  • Portability: ask for data you gave us in a commonly used, machine-readable format, where that applies.

To use any of these rights, email info@killerhiphop.com. We will reply within one month. There is normally no charge. Because we do not keep emails or any other records about visitors, in most cases we will hold no personal data about you at all, and we will tell you so. For data held by Cloudflare, Google, SoundCloud or Vimeo, you can also contact them directly.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, please tell us first so we can try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK regulator: ico.org.uk. If you live in the EU or EEA, you can complain to your local data protection authority. Visitors from elsewhere, including the United States, can use the same contact details to ask about their data, and we will help wherever we reasonably can.

Children

This site is aimed at a general adult audience and some content contains explicit language. It is not designed for children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you think a child has sent us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

Links to other sites

Articles link to other websites, social networks and video platforms. We are not responsible for how those sites handle personal data, so please read their privacy policies.

Changes to this policy

We will update this page if the way the site handles personal data changes, for example if we add new features or services. The date at the top shows when it was last changed.
