Video: Nas’ Cancelled Jay-Z Hanging At 2002’s Summer Jam

June 12, 2012 · Posted in beef, Videos · 7 Comments

You thought Nicki Minaj’s Summer Jam was controversial? You thought “Ether” was insulting? Well if you combine those two and multiply them by 10, then you may get the video above.

Back in 2002, Nas was in the middle of a beef with Jay-Z. During 2002’s Summer Jam, Nas planned to hang Jay-Z on stage. Except Nas never made it on stage because Hot 97 wouldn’t let Nas do his hanging, so Nas cancelled his show altogether. A recently surfaced video shows just why Hot 97 decided to pull the plug on the stunt. The life-like animatronic Jay-Z dummy is made of silicon, and features many pistons and valves which cause the dummy to squirm. Hot 97 obviously thought the stunt was over the top.
