Video: Lupe Fiasco Explains All Black Album Cover

September 26, 2012 · Posted in Videos · Comment

Lupe Fiasco’s all black album cover is definitely a head-scratcher. Thankfully, we now have a better explanation as to why the cover is all black.

Lupe told Ashanti that, “there’s a song called ‘Man in Black’ written by the late great Johnny Cash. And people always ask because I wear all black on stage and I kind of stay in black, why you always wear black and why is the album cover all black? And I always say just listen to Johnny Cash’s the ‘Man in Black.’ And the reason he wore black was for, the prisoner who has long paid for his crime, but is there because he’s a victim of the times. There’s meaning behind it.”

Food & Liquor 2: The Great American Rap Album Pt. 1 is now in stores everywhere. Look for the all black.
