Odd Future’s frontman Tyler, The Creator hit the UK shores to perform at the O2 Academy Islington on 30th March 2013. This was ahead of his Wolf album release on April 2nd 2013. KillerHipHop’s very own Wesley was on hand to witness the event and soak up the atmosphere. Check out his exclusive review after the jump.

After a long wait Taco appeared from the back curtain to greet the patient die hard Tyler fans and proceeded to get his warm up set underway. He turns up the crowd with a selection of trap music ended with Jay and Kanye’s “Niggas in Paris”.

He then played the intro track to Tylers album WOLF and the crowd knew he was coming. As the track nears an end Tyler bursts from the back with his explosive energy screaming “got all the black bitches mad cos my main bitch vanilla” and proceeded to turn the crowd up with his first track of the evening FRENCH. Accompanied by Jasper Dolphin they get the crowd going.

As the track ends Tyler takes a break to thank the crowd for coming and tells us he only has an hour because of curfew and says he is just going to shut up and get on with it.

The tracks off his new album WOLF went down a storm as the whole crowd already knew all the words and Tyler was definitely impressed with this. My favourite is definitely DOMO23.

Tyler then does his best to give the crowd what they want and even takes requests from the crowd, in between spitting water on them,
calling them assholes and reqesting dick sucking from random fans.

He did his best to engage with the crowd and you could tell he appreciated the love and support from the UK.

The track of the night will have to be “TINA”. It was being screamed by the crowd all night and they went ballistic when he Taco and Jasper started flying around the stage screaming “TINA PERM YOUR FUCKING WEAVE”. It was mosh pit heaven for the die hards.

Overall it was a hype filled hour of GOLF WANG moshing, jumping and playful anarchy. Everyone was dripping with sweat by the end. The many fans who were seen carried out by bouncers was testament to the madness experienced in the crowd. This concert was not for the faint hearted.

The wait from doors opening to start of 3 hours with no warm up acts or DJ’s was the worst part of the experience. The people who queued up for hours to be at the front would have been dying of thirst after the 3 hour wait and the venue was very confined and hot.

I will be going to the next concert in the UK and I hope he gets a bigger venue next time to get more fans involved in seeing his full
repertoire of mayhem.

The top pick from the merch available was a pink pastel GOLF snapback which is only available at show pop up stores.

Overall it was a good show and Tyler was every bit the showman and performer we have come to expect. GOLF WANG!

Where you at the show? What did you think of it?

Tyler’s album Wolf is out now.
