REVIEW: J. Cole Performs At Hammersmith Apollo, London (December 3rd 2013)
On December 3rd 2013 J. Cole took his tour to London, England to perform at the Hammersmith Apollo. KillerHipHop was lucky enough to be in the building and watch the show go down. Check out our exclusive review of the event below.
J Cole was in the building y’all and boy did he DELIVER!
As part of his 3 night whistle stop tour, Mr. Cole World himself electrified the Hammersmith Apollo like a superstar rapper is supposed to do…AMEN! Accompanied by his live band, the Roc Nation emcee lived up to the label name by rocking the mic AND the place rocking from the get go dropping classic after classic from his past and previous discography of music much to the admiration and applause of the sell out crowd in attendance.
Quite frankly, there was no need to pay attention to the man on stage with audience members a like reciting his lyrics word for word to further signify the popularity of Jermaine’s love of wordplay and the influence his songs have had since his first mixtape “The Come Up” released in 2007.
The North Carolina representative entertained us with his latest material taken from his sophomore album “Born Sinner” such as “Power Trip” and “Crooked Smile”. There was a PA from Bas sandwiched in between who kept the fire burning (literally!) after an audience member tossed up a lighter to him at his request. To make the night different from his previous two shows there was a surprise appearance from none other than New York rapper French Montana who had previously performed a couple days prior to Cole at the the 02 arena. French was warmly welcomed with the club classic “Ain’t Worried Bout Nothin” taken from his debut album on Bad Boy Records “Excuse My French”.
For many people it would of been the first time they’ve seen Cole perform in the UK but I’m 100% sure it won’t be the last and with an ever growing international fanbase I’m sure it won’t be long before we’re mentioning him amongst one of the greats! #Top5DeadOrAlive?
