News: MC Eiht Claims Ryan Lochte Stole “Jeah”

August 18, 2012 · Posted in news · 5 Comments

Olympic swimmer, Ryan Lochte recently revealed plans to trademark his “jeah” catchphrase. He plans to use the word on shirts, sunglasses, mugs, workout DVD’s, swimming caps, and basically whatever you can think of. But he might have to rethink the decision because Compton rapper, MC Eiht now claims to have coined the phrase back in 1988. Eiht tells TMZ, “Why try and trademark something his ass didn’t even create? I am mad that he isn’t giving me proper recognition for taking my saying. He is just disrespectful.”

Eiht says he will send a cease & desist letter to Lochte to get him to stop using the phrase.

Ryan Lochte claims he came up with the word after listening to Young Jeezy. He says he changed Jeezy’s “cheah” to “jeah.” Lochte’s manager says that Lochte has been using “jeah” for years and that he’s never heard of MC Eiht’s claim.

Listen to the first 5 second’s of every track on MC Eiht’s 1994 album “We come strapped” and you’ll know who coined the word “JEAH”.
