Meek Mill Argues With Pastor Over “Amen”

Meek Mill called into Philadelphia radio station Hot 107.9 and argued with Philly Pastor Jomo K. Johnson about the song “Amen”.

“Lord forgive me for my sins, I’m just tryna win”

The Pastor was not happy with Meek’s blasphemy and Meek got very heated over the discussion. Meek Mill accused the Pastor of wanting attention over the whole issue and continued to explain all the charity work he has done.

“I done took 20/30 drug dealers off the street”

Read the full Meek Mill Amen Lyrics here.

The Pastor also criticised Meek for promoting rape in a song. Possibly a reference to Meek’s verse on NORE’s Scared Money.

“If I ever go broke, I’mma take yo money, Have my nigga snatch yo bitch and rape yo honey!”

    in all honesty i don’t judge anyone hence i don’t know any rapper personally but i mean the rappers i usually listen to talk about life experiences they went through that being whatever that might be. That is why i feel like todays youth is all fucked up. You have people like meek and ross just portraying violence. Nothing positive AT ALL! If you like they’re music cool nothing against you but facts are they’re music has nothing but negative shit. In this interview meek in my eyes looked like bad, his excuse was the pastor wants money??haha and kept asking him where was he like hes suppose to follow meek where ever he goes? One thing meek was right about was maybe the pastor should have confronted him personally other than that check meeks lyrics, that says it all their…Nobody wants meeks money fucking clown lol

    When you grow up in a rough environment you see, hear, and sometimes do shit that is fucked up. But you gotta understand in these environments there are no rules. It’s Darwinism; survival of the fittest. There is nothing about that life that is positive besides maybe goin thru a whole month without attending a funeral. To make my point, if you are surrounded and involved in this life it entails negativity. That’s all we know. It’d be lyin if he was rappin about the wonders of life. Ya, he made it but he understands that niggas are still caught up in it. That’s him, that’s what he is, it’s where he came from, if people don’t wanna listen to it then don’t. We feel meek cuz we been there man, we’ve experienced that negativity. It ain’t sunshine and daisies out there yo.

    @Yerboy, Obviously im not saying he should preach God every song lol But to say thats all he knows and make excuses for a guy like he’s gone through bad things and thats why thats all he needs to rap about is a poor excuse. Look at other rappers, NaS lets say cause if i mention other underground artist as examples you probably wont know so, You see NaS rapping about still killing people or like KHH posted in this post of meek talking about raping a girl? These rappers(a lot of the mainstream not everyone but most) are just being manipulated. Whats your excuse for Rick Ross?haha I mean are you really going to sit there and tell me Rick Ross all he knows about is hustling selling bricks of cocaine or hiring shooters?lol Don’t fool yourself. Don’t give excuses. You act like there is no positive in the negative. That is what is wrong with people they give artist excuses. If you’ve personally been through tuff stuff good for you who hasn’t? Its not jus meek though so we cant just blame him. I feel what you saying just don’t agree with the excuse you gave me…

    @MosDef,

    You seriously don’t have a clue do you. You just don’t like the music so find a way to bring negative energy towards it. WHY do you always love comparing rappers to other rappers. Nas and meek mill? You admit it was wrong comparison so I’ll let u off. But if every rapper was the same then hip hop wouldn’t be hip hop and we would be listening to the same shit all the time. Now u say meek has not dropped an album yet and want to compare him to underground artists? U name me any artist that has achieved as much hype as him and mixtape downloads without even releasig an album yet? You would be stupid to think that meek is not going to be around for a while. One reason as Yerboy just said is people from the street and hood relate to him. The other reason is simple he makes GOOD if not GREAT music.

    Now you talk about violence? Well let’s look at the best rapper alive Eminem shall we. I don’t no if you have heard his two first albums, but the violence he rapped about was far worse than any I’ve ever heard. He’s not about no gangsta life yet he’s already explained how he will kill his wife? So explain to me why your not moaning about him? Meek is about that life and your saying he’s gloryfying violence. If that’s what he’s rapping about, why you think it is? Look at the game, every record he makes is some what gang related because that’s all he knows. So stick to your underground rappers, the ones “no one has probably heard of” and the ones that will probably never be as successful as meek. Amen!

    I feel you with the nas comparison but yea you forget meek hassnt dropped an album yet sowhen nas was in tht stage of career yes he did rap about the same stuff.. obviously not the exact same stuff cause theyre different artists .. all im sayin is it remains to be seen what meek. Will develop into @MosDef,

    @Illadelph_meekmill, Ya maybe NaS wasn’t the best example but i mean thats why i didn’t want to use an underground artist cause he probably wouldn’t have known who that was…Good point you mention though Meek not dropping an album just cause to me that made meek sounds even dumber. The pastor just wants his money?lol Like you said he hasn’t even dropped an album yet he’s acting like he’s a JayZ and they want his money? Meek will soon be gone. He’s one of those rappers that is just hot at the moment. I mean how long has he been around? still no album? I mean he said “Only God can judge me” then he goes on to say he doesn’t believe in God..lol? Then says F the pastor lol Its just like a prostitute..She’s making money for her family doesn’t make it right does it? He’s talking about giving out turkeys then goes out and makes music with negative messages..ehh thats just my mentality..

    [Reply]

    Yerboy Reply:

    But you forget that your mentality aint worth a damn thing. You say i wouldn’t knOw any underground rappers? Your ignorant for that and i don’t have time to educate you in that particular field. What I do have time for is sayin that the majority of the rappers past and present have talked about that life. Some preach about gettin out, some preach about tryna make it better, and some preach about what they’ve seen or dOne it’s hOw it is. It’s street shit. If yOu were the undergrOund king like you proclaim to be then you would know that street kids rap about street shit. As for Rick Ross, thats where your ignorance comes in again. When did i ever mention that I fucked wit Ross? I didnt. You just don’t understand man, Plain nd simple
    Ps. Why did NaS cosign meek ? Cuz he feels what the boy is sayin . Stop listening to meek and quit wit the bitchassness, it’s a bad look

    I hate people who come into an arguement convinced they already know what it’s about and won’t listen to anything you have to say. It’s not even about the lyrics or god or any of that cause that’s something each man has to decide on his own on whether god is real or not. Meek just came off as ignorant too me. Like I don’t think I’d be able to carry a conversation on with the dude because of how stupid that just made me portray him as. None of his points were about anything that was being argued. And it’s not like the “priest” was any better. How many priests do you know go out of there way too listen to rap music and than go try and to call the artist themselves out on it? If you’re that into god… most hip hop shouldn’t even be on your radar of things to listen to

    @sampz, One thing i would really like to know is your age…lol I mean the way you think is funny. Anyways ill answer you since this is an easy one.
    Ok one you said i don’t like the music? what music? Mainstream? You cant really say that since i do listen to artist such as j cole kanye jay z Em labels such as G.O.O.D and Shady records. So those labels are mainstream so again watt do you really mean by “Like the music”? So that point you try to get across as “i don’t like the mainstream” we can say is invalid lol Okay thats out of the way, Why did i compare NaS to meek? Well if you read any of the above comments you would have understood CLEARLY that my point was meek is not the only one that has been through rough times so i was comparing NaS to Meek NOT lyrically(If you read but clearly you didn’t) but similar situations as in rappers coming up with violent surroundings but as for NaS making a positive out of it. Ofcourse though you couldn’t get the message which doesn’t surprise me. I can compare Meek to any rapper not just NaS i just used NaS since he’s known but i guess you can pretty much input whoever you want on the blank since pretty much most rappers have came from the hood. Okay since thats out of the way i hope you understood that part lol Next you mentioned if every rapper was the same. Take meek and ross and whoever else talks about violence and hiphop is still not the same haha There is so many styles n different concepts and topics you can talk about that hiphop will never be the same. Kendrick cant be compared to big krit yet they don’t portray violence? Get the point? You cant still be different. So no you wouldn’t be listening to the same shit overtime. I mean im not a Drake fan but look at his music different as well. Okay now you said to name you an artist “that has achieved much hype as meek” So in other words Your asking me who’s more “popular”? ahaha Since you didnt say name me an artist that is lyrically better than meek lol I wonder why u never ask who’s lyrically better? its always a popularity contest like if its High school or something? i mean are you in high school is that why ‘Popularity” matters to you? Chief kieff has a lot of “HYPE” so that just pretty much sums up your argument haha I can name you artist that haunt dropped an album yet and are lyrically better than meek. I mean hippo is about Who’s better right? Not who’s more popular? k just wanted to make sure you knew that. Kendrick no debut album yet? Has lyrically better mixtapess as well as well concepts on them. Who else? Ab-soul if you’ve listen to his album better lyricist and Control system is well put together. again we are talking about better lyricist? k again wanted to make sure you weren’t thinking this was high school popularity contest since AGAIN chief kieff has a lot of hype haha Now how long has he been around? Meek? i mean if this was drake we were talking about i would say ya hell most likely be around in ten years but meek?lol below average mixtapess? right. Now great music for you is ross talking about a fairy tale life and making ugh noises every other verse so i mean that says a lot haha Next you were talking about Eminem and why i didn’t bring him up…WEL BECAUSE HE WASNT EVEN IN THE TOPIC!!!!! haha Yet again you didn’t read watt i said when i wrote ITS NOT ONLY MEEK so i never said it was just him. BTW you obviously weren’t born in that era shows your age since EM was harassed by his music and his lyrics were used on the court so ya that pretty much makes you look like a fool since EM too was judged. BTW since we are on the EM topic he did have violent albums. Hmmm what about now..? Turned a negative to a POSITIVE!!! His last album he clearly talks about his mistakes and how he learned from them. Meek is about that life? He’s about raping women? Wow what a role model lol Last time i checked The documentary had tracks like “Like father like son, start from scratch, dreams, where im from, don’t worry all talking about YES GANG relations but bringing a positive out of it. Sampz your seriously a fool haha Underground that wont be successful?? really?? Last time i check TECH N9NE was underground and was doing perfectly fine hahaha Probably have more paper than meek too considering he sells a lot and whatever he sells goes straight to him since there is no major labels involved. Grow up sampz seriously you make yourself look really ignorant

    @MosDef,

    No it is you who makes urself look and sound like an idiot. Eminem is not in the subject topic, but portraying violence is. So yes eminem is related. You said your fed up of todays youth in your first post. I was pointing out its not just youngsters today, its been youngsters from day. When I say you don’t like the music. I mean that any music you do not like whether its rick ross, lil wayne or whoever you will allways have a negative comment. I don’t no why you always seem to think when I talk about hype or album sales that I never consider the lyrics. MOS DEF THE REASON WHY THESE RAPPERS ARE SUCCESSFUL IS BECAUSE THEY HAVE FANS. THE REASON WHY THEY HAVE FANS IS BECAUSE PEOPLE LIKE THE MUSIC. THE REASON WHY PEOPLE LIKE THE MUSIC IS BECAUSE THE LYRICS AND BEATS DO SOMETHING FOR THEM. FOR EXAMPLE MOS DEF THEY RELATE TO THE LYRICS.

    If the lyrics of any of these hip hop artists were shit they would not have any fans. Just because you don’t like them, you don’t understand them or you can’t relate to them doesn’t mean that those lyrics are not good or the artist is not good. Now you wanna talk about artists making the positive out of the negative. Well u clearly didn’t read the KHH post well either then. Doesn’t meek clearly state that he has taken 20/30 drug dealers of the street?? Does meek not mention the charity work he is doing?? Is meek not giving back to society??

    You are a idiot.

    @sampz, like I said on the above post a women prostitutes to feed her fam, doesn’t make it rightt does it? Did u watch American gangster? Based on a true story he would feed the poor yet he was selling them the poison(the drug) so ya doing charity work then talking about drugs n rape pretty mucho deserts the purpose haha everything else you said its not even worth responding to since chief kieff n soulja boy have fans as well haha btw learn how to read I never said I was fed up with today’s youth I said that’s why today’s youth is a lola fucked up cause of plp like Ross setting bad examples. There’s a difference their buddy. I mean other than that your points are pretty wack lol nothing smart said

    @MosDef, Most of the stuff you say i dont agree with but in this case i do. Just because meek is hood or was raised in the hood doesnt meen he should portray that in every song i like meeks song but meek and ross all they talk about is drugs and violence how are u going to say 1 thing and rap about another is stupid.im a huge drake fan cause i felt like he didnt rap about no dumb shit but lately he has being doing the opposit, eventhought they dont like to admit it alot of my friends are influence by that music.

    Who is Meek Mill ? A knuckle head from the streets of Philly that sold dope now raps and makes money. Ages 11-18 see that and want to live his and other rapper’s life styles & through the rhymes they spit. Is it the rappers fault, nope I blame the parents. Parents of today are too relaxed and too busy to be strict to their kids and at the same time be role models from me. So instead of their parents being role models today’s youth cling to musicians, video vixens, reality stars, gangbangers, & drug dealers as influences.
