The internet was up in arms last week when the nominees for the Hottest MC’s list were announced. Lots of rappers were left off, causing a lot of controversy. But the biggest name left off the list was J. Cole. Above he speaks to MTV about the controversy.
Yeah I saw the list. I don’t know it’s like, a list is a list. Whether I’m on it or not. Even if I was on it. If I was on that list they would find another person to be up in arms about. I’m very happy at the fact that my fans, even people who aren’t big fans but they just know that, I’m happy to see that reaction from them. But if it wasn’t me it would be somebody else. Like ‘ah how did you forget MC such-and-such’ you know. That’s just the nature of a list. So imagine when the top 10 is really announced. I’m sure it’ll be drama then. But do I think I deserve to be on it? Yeah come on, of course. Even when I didn’t deserve to be on it, I thought I deserved to be on it a couple of years ago. When I really wasn’t as hot as I might be right now. When I seen it of course, I was like Word? But it’s all good.

Eh. I have my top ten. I don’t need Mtv to try and tell me who they think the hottest mc’s in the game were last year. Hip hop is purely opinion. Just cause 100000 people like a particular artist. Doesn’t mean that I feel them like those people do. Like one of my fav artists from 2011 were Elite and a complete unkown Blake allee…But I still think Elite should have been more recognized. He’s part of J cole’s camp and he’s good. I suggest anyone who reads this go look up “awaken”. His album
