    By the snippets this sounds too commercial for me..had high expectations. What’s up with Ye dumbing down production..ill give it a full listen can judge fully off of snippets but damn. Good thing there’s been good albums out this year though I can always go back too

    @MosDef, There have been good albums this year? No… The only good album I’ve heard was Blu’s re-released album. Other than that Hip-Hop has been very week this year. I’m glad I’m into other genres because they haven’t disappointed :]

    @Luminous Story,
    Ab Soul – control system
    Frank Ocean – Channel Orange
    Nas – Life is good
    Schoolboy Q – habits & contradictions
    Slaughterhouse – Welcome to our house
    Domo genesis& the alchemist – no idols
    b.o.b. – strange clouds ( poplike, but he gets away with it)

    all these albums are pretty good in my opinion, especially the first 3

    given the talent & the singles they dropped I really thought this album was gonna be epic…
    But this & the tracklist showed it won’t live up to the expectations.
    I just don’t understand why they’ve been working so long on 12 fucking tracks & why they put a total of like 40 artists on it…

    the singles already out now are bangers though & the hype will sell.

    After hearing these snippets I take back my comment about this album potentially being 8/10. It dropped to a potential 5/10. . 4 me anyways. . You know maybe this will change again when it drops because songs do sound better and more cohesive 1nce you hear the full album.

    You know what the problem is fellas. . . Is that all these guys hyped this album up so much during interviews about it being a gamechanger but afta listening to these snippets its like. . . Uhm. . . . Okayyy kinda overhyped. . But to the Hip Hop enthusiasts like meself lets not knock it yet. I mean it took me a while to like songs like Who Gon Stop Me and Illest M***er F**ker Alive. Lol. #mixed_feelings.

    I personally think the album is gonna be nice from the singles that they’ve dropped. I can tell it will have a commercial effect but you really can’t judge off snippets how good the album will be.

    I believe this will do well and sound great. People ain’t ready for new sounds and a new era of music. This ain’t just a hip hop album it is going to have a lot of different genres mix. The reason people have mix feelings or say it’s wack is because they are scared and not ready for that new shit. This already sounds better than all the other comp albums in the past.

    To me I actually like what I heard. Maybe if they would have let some of the songs play longer so we could hear some lyrics maybe it would change some peoples mind. But I was expecting some commercial type beats i mean ye been commercial since 808’s but this album sound better than alot of new stuff that been dropping. Cruel summer = 8/10

    Damn so much negativity. I don’t get it lol. All you self proclaimed “true fans of hip hop” you would be stupid if you think your fav artists didn’t listen to other genres of music. Although hip hop is my preferance I’m generally just a fan of music. Like the guy said above it seems people fear something new or they just wanna hear the same music as before. I say it all the time we live in 2012 taste and music has changed. Stop living in the past and just enjoy what is given to us.

    @sampz,

    wtf kind of response is that?
    the singles are awesome ,but what I hear in the snippets are corny/commercial hooks & songs with way too many artists on it, there’s NTOHING new about that.

    Kanye’s production is on another level & I LIKE that he brings new sounds to hiphop but it’s not about the fact that it’s new or not.

    It’s about the fact that this will be a decent album & not a classic which I believe was possible, but not with 12 songs including songs like 11. Bliss (John Legend & Teyana Taylor), a remix which is good but it’s a remix.. & clique isn’t even that good

    @no, ya ima have to agree with you. Its not about bringing something new. There’s already new sounds coming to the game. Check out ab soul n his sound. Its unique n new. Kendrick also bringing new sounds like cartoon n cereal as well as danny brown. So its not about new sounds that’s dumb lol just its nothing new. Like I said a few songs sounds good. I agree with you with artist like cyhi push a common yasiin Bey kanye n production by Pete rock n ye maybe get a rza beat it has potential of classic shit

    @no, You hit the nail on the head bruv! Theres always something new being done which is great, but the issue is that will Hip Hop still be recognisable. And again how can they have artists like Mr.Hudson, KiD CuDi, Kanye, Q-Tip etc. Then they started working on the album like last year during the WTT Tour. And then give us 12 songs! Thats the issue. Good point No.

    @no, ok you missed my point. I said it seems people fear something new or they wanna hear the same music as before. Every kanye song I hear whether it was the throne or this album. Is a fresh sound. Kanye always brings something different. That’s what I meant. So what if its got a lot of artists on or if there’s only 12 tracks. Where’s the rap rulebook that says its not allowed. Your saying its not going to be a classic based on snippets. Well my point is who cares if its a classic or not why not just enjoy the music and also who are you to decide what’s a classic or isn’t.

    @sampz, Sampz, Did ya read me 1st comment. . . I said from what I can determine the album won’t be that great but I did go on to say that songs sound more cohesive on an album so I’m not gonna knock it yet.

    Also, even though some albums are universally excepted as classics, I in my own capacity as a person can determine whats a classic to me. How can you say who am I to determine whats a classic? Thats like a reviewer from XXL saying to a reviewer from Rolling Stone that he’s not a good reviewer cause He didn’t like Watch The Throne. That’s all I’m sayin bruv. . Does it mean I don’t know music just cause I didnt like it of snippets.? Opinions change. You can’t dictate to me how I bump music.
