Charlamagne, Charlamagne, and to make matters worse he’s wearing a Cowboys hat (Ha, what’s up @TheMikeDaSilva). Well everybody is entitled to their opinion, and Charlamagne thinks Drake is a corny guy. Dope rapper, but corny. Do you agree or disagree?

Drake is in my top 10 rappers, but I agree with him. I had high hopes for Take Care, but I don’t really like the singles much. He’s gonna fail to bring the energy for this album like the last, which is something that’s gonna disappoint me. His lyricism has been down a couple of levels, but better flows. I don’t think he’ll be able to go 5 albums on the YM contract. For one, he doesn’t rap about real shit or other crap like other rappers. He raps about pussy, money, weed, girls, etc. and that won’t cut it. His punchline phase seems done and overwith.

He said his first album wasn’t really his first, but it delivered extravagantly beat-wise and flow-wise and pretty much hook-wise but with about 3 songs with good lyricism content; and too many features. The beats for this album don’t attract me and sound dull. I’ll admit that I was able to listen to the singles of TML for a very long while (besides Fancy-even though strong in some areas in lyricism); but for Take Care I’ve only got an ear for Marvin’s Room and it ain’t all that.

I’m looking forward to a couple of features on the album however and will like to see how it turns out. I expect lower first week album sales for it though. When it all comes down though, I choose lyricism over beats, but with a nice flow.

In a couple songs Weezy (one of my top ten also) said the same ishh off of 2 of Drake’s TML songs and has had repetitive material so he’s falling off, but he’s had a long time in the game and delivered constantly. Can’t blame him.

I’ve heard of this guy a couple of times and I respect his opinion. He’s right about Drake on those singles and he’s started to fall off. I like the last part he says bout haters cuz I wouldn’t give an F bout what other niggas think. Just live your life.

@M&R, First of all Drake does talk way much more than money, weed, etc. He has always rapped about real stuff & always will rap about more than money & whatnot. His lyrics are crazy good. Drake has the poet like flow when he raps. He puts soo much thought into all his songs & lyrics.

Then you have the audacity to say that Take Care will not sale as well. Are you serious? Have you not listened to “Club Paradise”? The song has very good lyrics & like he said in “Headlines”, “I had someone tell me I fell off, ooh i needed that” in my opinion I dont think he has ever felled off. He has yet to disapoint me & I believe he will NEVER disappoint as long as he is in the game.

Drake is the BEST rapper out there. He is going to be known as a legendary rapper 20 yers from now. So before you start talking about his “lyricism” , think about how much Drake has attained, gained, & will gain.

    M&R Reply:

@M&R, Let’s be honest. Drake doesn’t have punchlines like in his mixtapes before and all his flows are starting to sound the same and 40 is giving repetitive beats. You’re lying to yourself if you don’t think so. Drake’s in my top ten, but I’m not a dickrider like most of his fans. Yeah he raps bout his dad, mom, fame, etc. He does rap about weed and pussy and money. He just uses it creatively in lyricism which is why I give him a thumbs up.

@ironae no point in arguing with you. You just said he’s the best. Go kill yourself. Tupac, Eminem, Jay Z, Biggie qualify as the best

I can’t stand that wack ass radio clown. He is alway hatin on somebody. Somebody needs to give his btch ass some makeup to cover them spots on his face. Radio is the furthest he can go with a face like that kmsl. Drake has only been n d game for a short time and is already being mentioned with the greats…..nuff said

Charlamagne is a revered radio voice from the breakfast club. His opinion is entitled to his own, and just because he’s saying things that you guys don’t want to hear, you have to say “what has charlamagne accomplished?” and “who the hell is charlamagne?” Well, who the hell are you? A random user on some hip hop blog? My point exactly. You are entitled to your own opinion just like he is. He has truth in what he says. This Jewish Canadian, Degrassi actor is rapping about how somebodies going to catch a body (kill someone), and then next single he’s rapping marvins room. You believe drake will kill someone with his rep., and demeanor? He admitted that he has good rapping skills, but he’s just corny as shit. It is what it is.

@kbrian, you hit the nail on the head bro.. it’s the exact same way i feel about him. I, for one, am not fond of this basic rhyme scheme.. I’ve always been a fan of similes, metaphores. To me, it seems like artist actually put thought into it instead of rhyming whatever comes to mind (obviously this is strictly my opinion).. I’m a lyrical guy, and Drake tends to lack that and in addition his concept matter is becoming far too repetitive.. .

    kbrian Reply:

@e.dialect, mhm, i don’t remember the last time drake rapped about anything else other than women, money, or fame. He’s definitely good at it, but for those who say that he raps about more, link me to something of his where he doesn’t. As for lyricism and conscience rapping, he without a doubt lacks in.

Jay-Z & Kanye West – Murder to Excellence
    J. Cole – Lost Ones
    Wale – Diary
    Kendrick Lamar – HiiiPower

    That’s lyricism and versatility.

this unknown guy that Ive never heard of ,his tone sOunds like he’s really jealous. Drake not only talks about his life in his rap but what other people might feel. Like Marvins Room. I could relate to that track, he’s just simply hating on rapper that’s in the game and going hard YMCMB OVOXO Nov 15 Take Care…

On the real drake is good but for anyone to ever say drake will be the best rapper in 20 years is fucking stupid. Drake is far from a thug he is one of the softest rappers in the game also wack for attacking his idol jay z I have less and less respect for drake every month. I wanna here comeback season drake he made a mistake with ymcmb but I really hope things work out for him in terms of album sales he has talent just dumbs it way down for sucky ass ymcmb just like lil Wayne

Well drake is a good rapper no doubt & he’s bringing somethin new with his rap/r&b compilation but the thing is the guy is bond to be repetitive & his shit is gonna be played out cause he has nothin more to talk about other than money, women& drugs & this is his sophomore album so this should be the last project inwhich he mentions how hard for him to make it in the rap game & shit cause it’s gettin really overused by rappers these days (wadduuuup Cole) & for Take Care idk am startin to have my doubts because some of the songs on there are really good like headlines, marvins room & free spirit, but the nicki & Wayne tracks are garbage !!!! I just hope the rest is better

Drake has been corny this year, with fake thuggin in “Headlines”, “Tony Montana”. Where is so far gone, heartbreak Drake at. His old stuff should of been his albums.

Drake is a good rapper. But hes too depressing to me sometimes. and the only time when he doesnt sound depressing is his singles that he drops to hype his album. Remember “Over”?? Drake snapped on that. But when TML dropped. He would rap or sing about some depressing things. and then the beats would last an extra minute after he stopped singing or rapping. Trying to add that “epic” feel to me. and he did have alot of features. Hes just so over hyped. Even if he does live up to the hype, thats when everyone just thinks everyone else is wack and drake is king. you have to remember. Drake is gonna sell alot of records, but that doesnt mean its gonnna be album of the year or anything. you have to BUY the album to HEAR it and THEN have your opinion. and plus YelaWolf and Wale’s album is droping within 2 weeks. no ones talking about that. i know they gonna kill too. People just need diversity in they’re playlist and listen to everyone before they judge who is better than who….

AND PLUS KANYE TWEETED ON A GOOD MUSIC ALBUM DROPPING NEXT YEAR SPRING!! im sorry. im just excited xD

@RiggsDaBoiWonder, This, yes. Thank you. Album sales means a lot, but not enough to say you’re a good/best rapper. Even Lil B and Soulja Boy can sell albums. On the other note that you mentioned about Yelawolf and Wale, they’re going to smash, regardless of the number of sales they put out. But if you’re on the YMCMB fan train, chances are, you don’t or won’t like slaughter house, shady’s aftermath, yelawolf, life is good (nas), etc. However, if you do, my hats off to to you. But now-a-days, If there’s no catchy hook, big bassed beat, or a bunch of lines that contain like or as punchlines in it, you won’t be considered a good rapper anymore to these people who think that’s real hip hop. smh.

Okay I definitely had to put my 2 cents in…UHHHHH THE ONLY THING I AGREE ON WITH CHARLAMAGNE IS THAT IT SEEMS LIKE DRAKE IS TRYING TO GO GANGSTA…Like honestly “2 white cups and i got that drank?”…This was not drake a few years back…BUT CORNY? NO WAY DUDE! DRAKE IS FARRR FROM CORNY…I MEAN NO OTHER RAPPER BECAME FAMOUS LIKE HE DID BESIDES 50 CENT BUT IM TALKING ABOUT AGE…He was the youngest rapper to become so famous before he even dropped his own official album…and saying he doesnt have “LYRICISM”? DUDE U GOTTA SLAP URSELF! I know plenty of old songs from drake that u can listen to that will make you say “WOW SON CAN REALLY RHYME”! Just like LIL WAYNE! I KNOW PLENTY OF OLD SONGS BY LIL WAYNE THAT CAN GIVE HIM CREDIT AS A LYRICISM RAPPER…But ppl change there flows and shit once the reach FAME! I HONESTLY FEEL THAT DRAKE WONT FALL OFF EVER BECAUSE EVERYTIME YOU HEAR A SONG HES FEATURED ON…ITS A HIT!!! I MEAN WHO MAKE BETTER CHROUS THESE DAYZ BESIDES DRAKE??? The mann really dont have to rap…He could just be another NATE DOGG and be famous and possible be LEGENDARY…
