1 Verse, 1 Hearse #9, T.I. – Here Ye, Hear Ye
Hear ye, hear ye young morticians. This week Kang Tip and his royal potna known as Sk8brd P came through and executed “Here Ye, Hear Ye”. The Kang delivered a strong message to all opinionated peons doubting the hustle. Son who asked you? Although peons across the land shook in fright, the sword with the following words inscribed, “If wishes had wings, they’d all make it to heaven and we’d all be kings” wiped out the entire land. Ye hear me?
Shit, if wishes had wings, they’d all make it to heaven
and we’d all be kings
If wishes had wings, they’d all make it to heaven
and we’d all be kings
Since it generated a lot of confusion, let me start with the title of the song. The correct interjection would be “Hear Ye”. Not “Here Ye”. Before I tell you about why “Here Ye” was used, let me tell you what the term means. “Hear Ye” is an archaic term meaning “listen to me”. People generally used this term before calling a meeting. Nowadays, the term is mostly used by people of high class. In this case, T.I. and Pharrell are the people of high class. They used “Here Ye, Hear Ye” to call people to their location (here), and listen (hear). What’s the point of talking to people if they aren’t within ear shot?
Now allow me to skip to the last line of the song. That’s why I am here. “If wishes had wings, they’d all make it to heaven and we’d all be kings”. If wishes became true, we’d all be kings. Wishes are pointless. Wishing is the reason the American economy is so fecal fam. Wishing for that house or that car without any means to pay for it. T.I. is telling us to quit with our wishing, and start with our acting. Actions speak louder than words. T.I. is talking to Occupy Wall Street. Complaining, and wishing that the economy was better is not going to help. We need solutions, not wishes. What the Occupy people are doing is respectable, but we need problem solvers, not whiners. If wishes had wings we’d all have good jobs.
T.I. probably wished for freedom every day he was imprisoned in Arkansas. He probably wish he never had Ecstasy in his car too. Wishing doesn’t do much though. Actions determine ones success and failure. T.I. was not born into wealth, because of capitalism T.I. was able to work his way to the top. If wishes had wings, we’d all be kings.
The kang is back shawty. He wants you to stop wishing, start acting. Stop whining and start occupying yourself with some solutions potna.
