NEWS: KillerHipHop Goes Mobile!

September 7, 2010 · Posted in news · 16 Comments

We have had many many requests over the last few months for KillerHipHop to get a mobile version and finally we are pleased to release our first version of the mobile website. It features a cleaner, minimal view of the posts with thumbnail images for the most recent posts and all future posts.

Currently we are supporting all iPhone’s and iPod Touch – you will be able to use App mode where you can bookmark the site to your iPhone’s home screen and it will load up like a native iPhone application. To do this just:

1. Load up on your iPhone/iTouch/iPad.
2. Click the plus sign (+) at the bottom of the screen.
3. Click “Add To Home Screen”.
4. Add to Home page will appear. Then click “Add” in the top right of the screen.
5. The icon should now appear like an app. Drag the icon to the first page for quicker access.

Other supported platforms are Android, Blackberry, Palm Pre and Pixi.

The mobile version of the site should work on the majority of phones. However if you are using a mobile device that does not show the mobile version please let us know which mobile device you are using via the comments, Twitter or Facebook and we will look into it.

If you cannot access the site at all from a phone please let us know what error message you are receiving. This is our first attempt at mobile compatibilty so if you do find any bugs please let us know.

Thank you to everyone who continue to use KillerHipHop and request more from us. It is you who make this site what it is.

    Hey peeps

Yeah we realise there is a 403 error happening on some mobile browsers, like Opera Mini on Android(+maybe other devices on Opera) as well as the mentioned above, we’re trying to fix this, however if you have another browser installed on your mobile device please try that one too.

So far we’re good to go on iPhone 3GS, Androids running the stock browser as well as the Dolphin browser.

On the iPhone 4 after I bookmarked the website now when I click on the killer hip hop app it takes me to safari nd shows me the full page not mobile version..??

Thanks Parse. We just had to deactivate the mobile theme for a short time as there was some compatibility issues. We are working on finding a compatible theme. So for now it still works but will just look like the normal site.

Thanks for letting me know and apologies for the change.
