New Music: Saigon – The Greatest Story Never Told Chapter 2: Bread and Circuses
Saigon strategically released his sophomore album on the day that Americans casted their ballots to move their nation forward. Sai’s not shy about his support for President Barack Obama, and his campaign for Bread and Circuses was much like that of the US pres in 2008 – in light of change. As a self-proclaimed progressive hip hop artist and father of two young girls, Sai is on a quest to combat today’s hip hop conventions and bring messages heralding social change back into the genre. Killer Hip Hop caught up with him Monday night at his album release party in Brooklyn, NY to discuss the album, the state of hip hop today, and much more. Stay tuned for our exclusive interview with him, but in the meantime, stream snippets of Sai’s Bread and Circuses after the jump and cast your vote for Saigon – or if you haven’t caught on to the metaphor, cop the album - here.

New Music: Iron Solomon x Saigon x Emilio Rojas – Monster
The empire state unites on this track. NYC-wordsmith Iron Solomon drops the second leak off of his forthcoming Killer mixtape just in time for Halloween. He linked up with hip hop veteran Saigon and popular indie emcee Emilio Rojas to lay down “Monster” over a beat that sounds like the theme music of a horror flick. This trio’s nasty with the lyricism both individually and collectively, so the finished product goes hard. I anticipate that the entire Killer tape will do the same. The DJ Green Latern/2Dope Boyz-hosted project strategically hits the web on All Hallows Eve. Hit the jump to stream Solomon’s “Monster” and check out the Killer tracklist that follows. Read more
Video: Saigon – Relafriendship
I know everybody’s done had one of these in their lives. Saigon introduces us to some new terminology with the track for his latest video. He defines a “Relafriendship” as the state of being more than friends, but less than lovers. The vid captures Saigon in the midst of his own relafriendship, handling the frustrations that come with wanting to get intimate with a good friend, but knowing that doing so could tarnish their friendship for good. “Relafriendship” lives on Saigon’s forthcoming album The Greatest Story Never Told-Chapter 2: Bread and Circuses due out on Nov 6. Click to check out our post on Saigon explaining the tongue-twisting title, pre-order it here, and watch the RAGE-directed visuals above. I’ll try to keep the demands to a minimum next post.

Video: Saigon Explains ‘Bread & Circuses’ Album Title
Saigon releases a short but informative video explaining his album title, The Greatest Story Never Told Chapter 2: Bread & Circuses. The album drops on November 6th.
Bread & Circuses: A metaphor for a superficial means of appeasement. In the case of politics, the phrase is used to describe the creation of public approval, not through exemplary or excellent public service or public policy, but through diversion, distraction and/or the mere satisfaction of the immediate shallow requirements of populace.
