The idea of documenting the behind-the-scenes of what really goes on in Hip-Hop and the music industry is very interesting. N.O.R.E. and Geno Sims took that idea and started filming. What you see in this video is NSFW but surely gives you an eye opening of real behind-the-scenes life of a famous rapper during the late 90s/early 00s.
There’s random bits of Big Pun, KRS One, Eminem making crank calls, Snoop Dogg at his most misogynistic, a chubby 50 Cent coveting NORE’s then-new Skytel 2-way pager…There’s Jay-Z and Amil, Capone in prison, De La Soul….and at the 2:25 mark, we see Cam’ron shopping his new 17-year-old artist Juelz Santana to Chris Lighty (RIP) and his staff. Amazing. -Miss Info

Nas stopped by the Angie Martinez show on Hot 97 for her birthday. He spoke about going back in the studio for a new album, CNN naming him the greatest lyricist of all time and now being friends with Kelis.
CNN has announced Nas as “the greatest lyricist of all time.”
Eliott C. McLaughlin of CNN says, “The words were carefully chosen. “‘Lyricist” over “rapper” or “hip-hop artist;” “greatest” instead of “most successful;” “all time” rather than “today.”
The article places the 40 year old rapper up against other artists such as Jay Z, Eminem, Andre 3000, along with the late Pac and Biggie.
What do you think? Is Nas really the greatest lyricist of all time? If not, who would you say is more deserving of the crown, and why?
Another year down, another solid year for hip hop and R&B. It’s always great to be able to go into your iTunes, hit the “Date Added” tab and just relive your year through music from January-December. Memories being brought up with each mixtape and album you listen to. Well, we all have our personal favorites that we preferred over the other. I started this whole Top Albums/Mixtapes thing last year, and of course it stirred controversy. It’s expected anytime you broadcast your opinion all over the world. Somebody I never heard of on your list? Cool, leave it in the comment section and enlighten me. Other than that, I enjoy giving my opinion and see who agrees/disagrees. A lot of good projects this year, but here is what I ended up with for my top 15 projects of the year. Read more
