A collabo’ between these two wouldn’t be too bad. Last night they collaborated on stage as the Music Matters tour made a stop in Chicago. Kendrick surprised fans and brought out Lupe Fiasco. Lu’ gave Kendrick the “next big thing” award and then performed a verse from “Put ‘Em Up.” Video courtesy of Adan Figueroa.
With the release of Food & Liquor II: The Great American Rap Album Pt. 1 just days away, Lupe took his talents down under. He and Aussie pop star Guy Sebastian hit the stage to perform their internationally acclaimed ballad “Battle Scars” on “The X Factor Australia.” It’s hard for a lot of artists to successfully duplicate the sound of a studio version during a live performance, but these two did it effortlessly. ”Battle Scars” has topped Australian charts for 5 consecutive weeks and has garnered over 200,000 downloads. Nice work, boys.
At the end of their performance, Lupe endorses Mr. Sebastian, stating that he’s on the brink of US stardom, and Guy makes the announcement that he’s anticipating to drop his album Armageddon come October 12th. We’ll keep you posted on that, but for now hit the jump to watch the live rendition of “Battle Scars.”

Lupe Fiasco was on stage at the York Fest in Toronto when he became the bigger man and sent a shout out to his “big homie Chief Keef.” The two had a bit of a beef last week that escalated when Chief Keef tweeted, “Lupe fiasco a hoe ass nigga And wen I see him I’ma smack him like da lil bitch he is #300.”
Obliviously, Lupe Fiasco is not up for a beef with fellow Chicago native, Chief Keef.
Chicago native, Lupe Fiasco, recently spoke about the state of Chicago hip-hop. More specifically, he spoke about one of the hottest Chicago rappers at the moment.
“Chief Keef scares me,” he said. “Not him specifically, just the culture he represents.” Lupe then went on to talk about the violence in Chicago and how hip-hop isn’t changing.
