Moment Of Clarity: Nas V. Jay-Z
“Hip Hop has to thank God for Jay-Z.” Amen. That’s the smartest thing Nas has ever said. No I kid. The smartest stuff Nas has ever said can be found on “Ether.” Although Nas’ “Ether” was hot, it was nothing but a cigarette to Jay. He stomped it out with his foot. Oh yeah, I’m bringing the Nas V. Jay-Z debate back, yes. After D’Evils & R.I.P. CD’s it’s time to have some fun. So anyways, Nas might’ve won the battle, but Jay-Z has unarguably won the war. Nas is a great lyricist, but Jay-Z is more versatile, and he can sell records. Men lie, women lie numbers don’t, ah.

Young Guru Says Jay-Z Is 4 Songs Deep Into Next Solo Album
Continuing his talk with Complex, Young Guru reveals 15 things you didn’t know about Jay-Z, all of which are very interesting. I recommend you check the article out. Apparently, Jay religiously watches YouTube freestyles, and L.A. Reid forced him to rush Kingdom Come. Anyways, Guru also revealed that Jigga is already 4 songs deep into his next album, but work has stopped since the birth of B.I.C.
There are maybe four songs so far and most of them are spill over. I don’t wanna say spill-over like they’re throw-aways from Watch The Throne. It’s an incredible beat coming on and Jay being like, ‘No that’s for my album. Hold that one, it’s for me.’ So the ones that were made so far, the beats were made during the Watch The Throne time.
“Now we’re adding on to it, but we haven’t gone back in. We had all this touring stuff. It was the end of the year and we were doing shows. Then the baby came. We literally went in to do the song for Blue Ivy and he hasn’t been back since. He’s definitely enjoying daddy mode right now.”

The Throne & Syl Johnson have settled their legal differences out court, TMZ has learned. Syl Johnson accused the rap duo of illegally sampling his track “Different Strokes” on “The Joy” from Watch The Throne.
Syl says that Kanye had initially tried to get the sample cleared for My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, but couldn’t get it cleared in time. Obviously, the sample didn’t get cleared for WTT either.
Details of the settlement are still unknown.

Young Guru Talks About New Jay-Z Album & ‘Watch The Throne 2′
Jay-Z’s favorite audio engineer sat down with the folks over at Complex, and talked about Jay-Z’s new solo album, and the possibility of a Watch The Throne 2. Excerpts below.
On Jay-Z’s upcoming solo album:
“Jay-Z is always working on stuff, it’s a concept that I can’t talk about but I’m marveled at how smart this guy is. When he told me the concept, I was like ‘Why didn’t I think of that?’ It was just so simple. It’s not a concept album though. It’s not like American Gangster, it’s not a Beatles concept album. It has a concept and a title, and the title and the concept fit him so well that people are going to be like ‘Wow.’”
“I like certain writers because it takes me 8,000 paragraphs to get my full point across. When somebody can take what I just said and condense it into two sentences and still have the same effectiveness, that’s a good writer. The simplicity of the title and the concept that it conveys is incredible.”
“I can’t tell you the title, it’s so good it’s like, ‘Oh my god why didn’t I think of that? What made you think of that and why haven’t we done that before?’ It’s just staring us in the face all these years, we could’ve been put that out as an album concept.”
