The Presidential election season is in full swing. When Bill Maher compared Mitt Romney to rich rappers, I thought that some of the rappers he mentioned would actually make good Presidents. Rappers are much more socially conscious than any of these guys running for President, especially Mitt. But, when people start to dig into rappers past is when we run into a wall. There is also a bunch of stereotypes that don’t help rappers out. Old folks vote too you know. After the jump I’ve listed some of the most successful rappers/entrepreneurs with the best chances of being called the President of the United States.

50 Cent
Curtis Jackson would make a terrific President. Curtis is an excellent businessman, and a great persuader. He knows how to sell his product. Whether it’s Vitamin Water, Street King, or G-Unit. Obama could learn a couple of things from Fif’ about persuasion. I mean, 50 has persuaded us into thinking he’s got another classic album coming. Like they say, he got rich, and stopped trying. Anyways, 50 is a smart dude, great leader, great at persuasion, and from watching his interviews he’s a pretty methodical speaker.

He’ll probably have a chance at this President thing if he weren’t so confrontational. Fifty has too big of a mouth. Being President means that if you can’t persuade the other side, you’re going to have to compromise. I don’t know if 50 could do that. He’ll probably just diss everybody in congress, and nothing would get done, ha. In addition, his past will bring him down. Unlike Jay, 50 Cent is still on his shoot you in the face music. Old folks aren’t going to like that. 50 Cent’s chances of ever becoming President are slimmer than that character he played in All Things Fall Apart.

Jay-Z
Out of all rappers, Shawn Carter is probably the most viable Presidential candidate. For one he’s a successful businessman. But, he’s not out of touch with the 99%. He’s been poor, therefore I believe that he would bring a lot of ideas that actually benefit most people. Mr. Carter has also held several key leadership positions as co-founder of Roc-a-fella, and Roc Nation, President/CEO of Def Jam, and co-founder of RocaWear. All are, or were thriving companies. Jay knows how to lead people, and get stuff done. In addition to the latter, Jay-Z is probably the wisest most articulate rapper out here. Just watch any of his interviews. He’s always speaking truth, and never gets stumped. He’s just full of knowledge. Plus, he’s illumintati, right? Ha.

Although Jay-Z would make the best President. As of right now he doesn’t stand a chance given his past. If people can’t accept the fact that Newt Gingrich “allegedly” cheated on his wife over a decade ago, no way are people going to accept the fact that Jay-Z once dealt drugs. The only reason Obama was elected was because he didn’t grow up like the stereotypical Black. I personally wouldn’t have a problem, because just from listening to his music you can tell Jigga has drastically moved away from his Reasonable Doubt days. Maybe, just maybe if every young person in America voted for Jay, he would have a chance. But then again, we haven’t heard about his policies, because running for President isn’t just about how good your resume looks. Jay-Z is still young though. We’ll see how much things change in 20 years.

P. Diddy
Puffy has a lengthy resume himself. Can anybody forget what he did with Bad Boy back in the 90′s? He made Sean John into an international multi-million dollar brand. Right now he’s doing big things with Ciroc. You can’t question his success. His eyes stay on the prize. Puff is also a great leader that can motivate his crew. Back in the 90′s he had his squad shooting people out in Quad Studios, ha. Kidding. Who knows who did it.

Although he’s a great leader, and motivator, he’s not that good of a speaker. Sean motivates by boasting and belittling the other side. He’s too much of a DJ Khaled. From my perspective he seems a bit too selfish. I don’t personally know the guy, but from his songs, and whenever he talks, he’s always boasting. Or maybe he keeps his charitable contributions low key. Either way, his Presidential opponents would rip him up. Plus, Sean is still rapping about the thug life. Out of 50, Jay-Z, and Diddy, Diddy has the least chances of becoming for President. Only behind Stunna.

Running for President is serious business. Especially for rappers whose controversial words might come back to bite them. The Common-White House controversy gave us a glimpse as to what might happen if a rapper chooses to run for President. News outlets would have a field day with Jay-Z’s “Big Pimpin’” or his interaction with the cop in “99 Problems”. Many people cannot accept the fact that people can change. Just because they rapped about killing back in the 90′s doesn’t mean they did it, or believe in it now. Rappers can’t get taken serious in the media either. If a rapper is in the news, it’s either Stephen Colbert joking about their stupidity, or something about a rapper carrying an unregistered handgun in New York of all places. When people can understand rappers, and accept the fact that people change, then we might see a rapper running for President. Maybe in 20 years, when this generation grows up. But, the only one with a real chance in my opinion is Jigga man.

Billionaire Warren Buffet big pimpin’ at the reopening of the 40/40

The NY Post is reporting that Jay-Z’ 40/40 Club was shut down just a day after it’s grand re-opening. The NY Health Department shut down the club for various health code violations that included, inadequate refrigerator temperature, and mixing salsa with bare hands. The 40/40 scored a 69 on their inspection. A score of 28 or more is downgraded to a “C” grade.

But, a rep for the club informed TMZ that a broken refrigerator led to the shut down. According to the rep, the refrigerator broke down moments before the Health Inspector walked in the door, which would explain the high refrigerator temperature. Staff fixed the problem, and the club was allowed to re-open. The club lost no business, but their health code grade is still under review.

Jay Z’ 40/40 Club Momentarily Shut Down For Health Violations

They say records are meant to be broken, but good luck trying to break this record. Blue Ivy Carter has become the youngest person to ever appear on a Billboard chart. This comes just days after her birth on January 7, 2011. “Glory” comes in at #74. The old record was held by 5 year old Jordy with “Dur Dur D’Etre Bebe! (It’s Tough To Be A Baby!)”. It’s interesting to point out that “Glory” is Jay Z’s 107th entry on the chart, B.I.C.’s birth date? 1/07. That shit cray. Once again, congrats to the entire Carter-Knowles family.

Niggas In Paris Train Guy Wants 50K “I Blew The Song Up”

“I believe in the future of wireless energy and I believe that Duracell Powermat is the company to bring on the revolution,” said Mr. Carter. “I’m partnering with Duracell Powermat because they’re providing the solutions for the future.”

Jay-Z was announced today as Duracell Powermat JV‘s spokesman, putting himself in the electronics business, and investor. Duracell will be unveiling new products this week at the Consumer Electronics Show in Vegas. With a baby finally here, Hov can use the extra money. ha!

New Music: Jay-Z – Glory ft. B.I.C.

We’re already in 2012, and I still haven’t listened to all of the mixtapes that came out on 11-1-11. Last year was filled with lots of music for almost everyone’s tastes. My favorite part of the year was when The Throne just dropped their album on us, and everybody was listening to Watch The Throne at the same time. That was cray! Hopefully they follow up with a part 2. We had major albums from just about every big rapper in the game: Bad Meets Evil, Tha Carter IV, Cole World, The RED Album, Section.80, Goblin, Take Care, Rolling Papers, Finally Famous, Camp, Self Made Vol. 1, All 6′s and 7′s, TM 103, The Dreamer/ The Believer, Ambition, and undun. Damn, what a year! Seems like everybody was dropping albums except Dr. Dre. 2011 was a solid year for music, let’s see what 2012 brings.

The 1st big album scheduled to drop in 2012 is Rick Ross’ God Forgives, I Don’t. Tracks like “All The Money In The World” from Teflon Don have me looking forward to Ross’ forthcoming album. This tape he just dropped hyped me up even more. Rich Forever was just a tiny sneak peek in my opinion. GFID will be Ross’ ticket into #1 rapper debates.

While we’re on the Ross subject, his collaborative project with Drake titled YOLO is going to crash the internet for good. Bloggers all over better gear up for this monster release. Queue the Drake is soft critics…..now.

We’ve also heard of a Watch The Throne Part 2 happening, and possible solo albums from both Kanye and Jay-Z. It sounds to good to be true, especially if Kanye is also working on a G.O.O.D. Music album, and DONDA. 3 quality albums in 1 year is nearly impossible, we’ll see if Kanye can pull it off. After all, he is a genius, right?

Another project I’m looking forward to is Kendrick’s follow up to Section.80. He hasn’t given out a name or time frame, but I don’t think he’ll go a whole year without dropping some sort of mixtape or album. IF IF we’re lucky, we might get that Kendrick Lamar-J.Cole project.

Tip and Jeezy are also working on a collaborative project of their own. The streets are going to be riding to this project for a long time.

Aside from working with Jeezy on a mixtape, T.I. is set to make his return with Trouble Man. This after nearly serving a year in federal prison for a probation violation. Telling from F#ck Da City Up, Trap Muzik T.I. is back!

An album I’m not looking forward to is Wayne’s alleged Rebirth II. Personally, Rebirth was ok, and Wayne was simply trying to tap into a different audience, but it was all a waste of time. Mack says we’ll have a part 2? You’re killin’ me. Now I Am Not A Human Being II, I’ll listen to. I feel that maybe Wayne is under too much pressure with Tha Carter series that he’s forcing hits. Although C4 was successful, it failed to deliver any monster hits like “Lollipop”, or “A Milli”. I wish he would come up with different album names too; just making sequels to albums is getting redundant. I’ll take IANAHB 2, but a Rebirth 2? I might have to bring out the YKM for that.

Slaughterhouse will also come through with their Shady Records debut in 2012. Eminem will probably make a feature on the album alongside Yelawolf. Slaughterhouse’s project will undoubtedly be making “The Top 10 Albums of 2012″ lists in December.

Seems like Jay Electronica is taking forever with Act II: Patents of Nobility (The Turn), but be patient. 2012 will probably be the year. Greatness takes patience.

A lot of good collabo albums are coming this year. I talked about some of them above. That Drake-Ross YOLO tape is going to be hot for sure, but there’s few combos in Hip-Hop better than OutKast, and Nas & Dj Premier. Having Nas and Premo back in the lab seems more probable at this moment, but I’m optimistic that L.A. Reid will do something and bring OutKast to Epic.

Hip-Hop isn’t dead you fools. It’s beautiful right now. Sure there’s lots of wackness, and things I’d like to change, but the same thing was probably going on in ’96. It’s just that the internet gives you more exposure to all the lames in the game. This year is going to be nothing short of great for Hip-Hop. Especially if DONDA becomes a reality. You know, because it’s going to change our lives and all. Good luck ‘Ye! Just try to give us a solo album, and WTT 2, that’ll make my year.

What To Expect In 2012: Albums/Mixtapes

Beyonce and Jay-Z welcomed their first child on Saturday night called Blue Ivy Carter.

Beyonce gave birth at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York via C-Section and is reported to be doing fine. Their good friend Russell Simmons was one of the first to break the news on his twitter.

The name Ivy is thought to come from “IV” — the Roman numeral for four which is phonetically spelled out as “Ivy”. The number 4 is a common theme for the couple. They were secretly wed on April 4, 2008 (04/04/08), each has a birthday on the 4th (Beyonce on Sept. 4, Jay-Z on Dec .4). Beyonce’s fourth studio album was called 4. Blue is also reported to be Jay-Z’s favourite colour and has significance via his Blueprint trilogy of albums. Source Poprush.
