This video premiered on MTV a few days ago but here goes the explicit Vevo version available for international viewers. J. Cole’s Born Sinner is due out on June 25th.
J. Cole went against his word today when he decided to announce the newest (and hopefully final) release date for his sophmore album, “Born Sinner.”
“Born Sinner” was originally set to be released on January 28 but was delayed once Cole decided that he would need more time to record. Interestingly enough, the Roc Nation rapper will now share a release date with Wale for his newest album, “The Gifted.” Both Cole and the MMG MC have arguably taken their places as two of the greatest lyricists of today.
With that being said, there’s no doubt that we should expect to see a head-to-head competition when it comes to album sales for the two artists.
“Born Sinner” and Wale’s “The Gifted” are set to be released June 25.
Which one will you cop first?

For those of you who have been enjoying Kendrick Lamar’s “B*tch Don’t Kill My Vibe (Remix)” featuring Jay-Z, there is something even bigger to look forward to between the two rappers. J. Cole is making sure he is everywhere this new year, not only by dropping a free EP, Yours Truly, but also by doing interviews such as the one he did the other day with Power 106′s Rikki Martinez (@RikkiMaa). On air, the two discussed his new EP, baby mamas and when we can expect Born Sinner.
Rikki started off the interview by asking Cole about his continuation for rapping about baby mamas, but in a different way than most rappers in the game. In particular, she brings up the Lauryn Hill-sampled track, “Rise Above,” on Yours Truly.
In discussing the theme of the track, he said, “In terms of theme, that’s something that is missing, like you said. It’s not even a love song, it’s more [about] a friendship. Talking about women as friends, ’cause we do have female as friends, it’s either a love song or hate song when it comes to women, no in between, and I was giving more of a realistic view of a relationship between a man and woman.”
Although the content of the song is strong, it won’t appear on Born Sinner, simply because Cole doesn’t want to have to clear the sample. “I figured I probably couldn’t clear the sample. I wouldn’t even wanna try honestly ’cause that’s like about her son,” he said.
When will Born Sinner be released? Cole says close to Tupac’s birthday (June 16th). And finally on if we’ll see the Kendrick and J. Cole collaborative project by the end of the year, the rapper says, ”It’s possible. We might see that completion of that album this year, I don’t know if we’ll see the actual release.”

J Cole is back with 5 new tracks to please his fans. He dropped this free EP called Truly Yours on his Dream Villain blog with the following message.
I appreciate you giving me the time I needed to grow, experiment, and find the direction for my 2nd album.. And I have. Along the way I’ve recorded at least 4 albums worth of material, lots of it being unfinished demo versions waiting to be polished up, some of them are great songs and important stories that just won’t make the album (either they don’t fit Sonically, don’t fit Theme, or there’s just not enough space) .
Tonight, I want to give you a few of these songs because you deserve them. It’s hard as fuck for me to keep all this music from you for so long, so I know it’s been hard for you to wait. Thank you for your patience. Vibe out to these songs in their raw form, no polish.. just a lot of my soul..
The wait is over.
PS- 1st single coming this week. The album is hands down my best work yet. Can’t wait to share.
