Cyberspace is clamoring over the liberation of the Jamla Army’s latest collaborative effort. Led by Grammy-award winning producer 9th Wonder, his musical militia came together in the booth to let everyone know – Jamla Is The Squad. Producer, DJ, and Shade 45 host Statik Selektah was enlisted to host the tape. Rapsody, GQ, Big Remo, HaLo and the rest of the roster flaunt their flows over production by The Soul Council – including beatsmiths Kash, Khrysis, Eric G, AMP and 9th himself. The tape, too, boasts features from Talib Kweli, Lecrae, Pete Rock, Jadakiss, BJ The Chicago Kid, among other affiliates. Hit the jump to stream Jamla Is The Squad in full, and cop it here.

Kendrick done started a riot.
In a culture where attention spans shrink by the minute, the current most talked about verse in hip hop is still at the epicenter of the dialogue…and it looks like it’s stayin there for at least another minute.
Yesterday at a private listening event for 9th Wonder‘s protege Rapsody, 9th and Young Guru assessed Mr. Lamar‘s claim to the hip hop throne on his “Control” verse, and what it means for emcees in his league.

Rapsody, the first lady of Jamla Records, was the most recent emcee to rock the mic a la freestyle on BET’s “The Backroom.” After a brief introduction by 9th Wonder – her mentor and general of the Jamla Army – the NC-native drops bars over Beatclock Productions’ “Compton Exit.” Check out the Lady Rap’s potent performance above. If you’re feelin it, show her some love and download her debut studio EP The Idea of Beautiful here.
As a woman – not a girl, but a woman – I’ve made it a priority to show love to the females on their grind heavy in the hip hop game. The emcee who goes by Rapsody, hailing from North Carolina, is the epitome of such a specimen. The lady Rap is the first of Grammy-award-winning producer 9th Wonder’s label Jamla Records. She recently dropped her debut studio album The Idea of Beautiful, which compiles an incredibly versatile set of cuts, predominantly produced by Jamla’s founding father, with additional credits going to AMP, Khrysis, among others.
“Good Good Love” featuring BJ The Chicago Kid is her latest single from the project. The track is about learning when to let go of blindsided love. This soulful jam infuses doo wop with hip hop in the most audibly pleasurable way. So dope. Hit the jump to groove to Rapsody’s latest, and support her by copping The Idea of Beautiful on iTunes.
Before having an interview with Village Voice, Drake always credited The Little Brothers a.k.a Phonte & 9th Wonder as his musical inspiration in his career. But as the Take Care album was done & finished it seemed like Mr. Graham left out these two, as he promised. This led Phonte to put Drizzy on the spot.
