Shyne set the twitter world on fire with his comments regarding Kendrick’s Good Kid, m.A.A.d. City. “Yoooo! Kendrick Lamar is talented with a lot of potential but his album is traaaaash!,” he tweeted. During a talk with Hip-Hop Wired, Lamar spoke about responding to Shyne’s tweets. “It’s really no response [to him],” he said. “I’m not a sensitive guy, so that’s his opinion. Can’t stop what the world thinks, so yeah, that’s him.”

Kendrick also talked about people labeling his album a classic. “The attention and great reception it’s been getting, it’s overwhelming,” said Lamar. “People are labeling this a classic even without the years behind it, so it’s a great feeling.”

Although it doesn’t have the years behind it to make it a classic, Kendrick feels like it’s classic worthy. “It’s classic worthy, you know? But it has to stand with the time and have the years behind it,” he explained. “Right now it’s classic worthy and people [will] look back and say, ‘Kendrick’s first album really, really, really outdid everything else and became a classic.’ I went into it with intentions of making it a classic, so I’m glad everybody’s saying that now.”

Best response to a negative comment I’ve read/heard in a while. Way to be mature and be “fuck it, it is what it is”

@MosDef, Firstly noone listens to gucci mane. and i like k.dots music. but the album was hyped too much, and i for one expected better. better mainstream album? id say take care. now youll come up with the ymcmb dickriding shit but i dont like ymcmb. But i enjoy drakes music, even though most of it is fake and abt the cliche PMW. right now u would say k.dot is real and all that but he will sell out like the rest. wait and watch

@Zaree7214, you’re nuts if you think take care is better than good kid mad city!! Good kid maad city is album of the year. Go listen to meek mill’s album and tell how it is… Kendrick Lamar is living up to the hype. Call me a dick rider or whatever but GOOD MUSIC IS HARD TO FIND! All Gucci do is talk shit and talk shots at random ppl, Cool!

@Zaree7214, I am not a big fan of the kendrick flow and find it hard to listen to a whole kendrick album, but I have to admit he pushed the limits in his work. He tried to do something better, outside of the cliche money pussy weed concept.
The album is not a classic yet, it has to pass the test of time first, but let’s see

No fan, rapper, producer, crictic, music analyst etc. Is the final authority or has the final say over what things arr in Hip Hop. Thats why theres no ‘official King Of Hip Hop’ like there is Rock, Pop, etc.

So a guy like me can like Kendricks album. And a guy like Shyne can think its trash.

@AfricaRising, If you’re not a fan than why are you putting your 2 cents in for? K.dot album is a soild 9 outta 10 period. Shyne is a hater!! It’s one thing not to like something but there’s another thing to talk shit n called someone “trash.” I could sit here and give you at least 10 names in HIP-HOP that are KING bro. Pop is wack and Rock is Lame now. I mean look at blink 182 lastest album which were WACK!

Glad Kendrick didn’t go on twitter like 50 Cent & French Montana did. I lost respect for 50 on that move, never had any for French Montana to began with.

Good Kid, Mad City is a decent album. Songs like “the art of peer pressure”, “money trees”, & “bitch don’t kill my vibe ” are cool tracks but doesn’t have that classic feel to it.

@Terrence, Terrence you and I are saying the same thing basically. If you’re sayin you can give me ten names of Hip hop kings that means there can be no one king bro and thats the point Im making.

Its universally acclaimed in Pop that Micheal Jackson is the King of Pop. With Rock music theres the Beatles and Elvis. In Hip Hop does everyone say Biggie is the king. Does everyone say Pac is the King. Does everyone say, no its actually Rakim. Does everyone say Em? Or Nasty? Or Jigga?
And when I say every1 please understand Im generalising.

“Hovs got flow although he’s no BIG and Pac/ but hes close/how Im supposed to win/they got me fighting ghosts/” Jay-Z

Great album, but I wouldn’t say album of the year. Life Is Good came out as well.
