Jay-Z – So Ambitious Lyrics Ft Pharrell
[Pharrell]
Yeah 3 in the morning on the Westside highway, top down baby,
F-ck y’all
The motivation for me was them telling me what I couldn’t be,
oh well,
[Jay-Z]
This a special dedication,
i wanna thank you for the fuel,
no really thank you,
I felt so inspired by what my teacher said,
said I’d either be dead or be a reefer head,
not sure if thats how adults should speak ta kids,
especially when the only thing i did was speak in class,
i’ll teach his ass,
even betters what my uncle did,
lyrics courtesy of killerhiphop.com
I pop my demo tape in start to beat my head,
peaked out my eye, see if he was beating his,
he might as well-have-said beat it kid, he’s on the list,
its like Im searching for kicks like a sneaker head,
he gon keep pushing me until i reach the ledge,
and when I reach the ledge i’ll tell em all to eat a d-ck,
take a leap of faith and let my eagle wings spread,
spread spread.
[Pharrell - Chorus]
Motivation for me was them telling me what I could not be,
oh well,
I’m so ambitious,
I might hit two sisters,
hey im on a mission
no matter what the conditions,
Forget the personal issues
when you been what i been through,
hey if you believe it,
then you could conceive it.
[Jay-Z]
I had to lace up my boots even harder,
father is too far away to father,
further-more of the kids either smoke reefer,
or either move white, theres few writers in my cipher,
so they made light-a, my type a dreams seem dumb
they said wise up, how many guys a you see making it from here,
the world don’t like us, is that not clear, alright,
lyrics courtesy of killerhiphop.com
But I’m different, i can’t base what I’m gonna be off a what everybody isn’t, they don’t listen, just whispering behind my back,
no vision, lack of ambition,
so wack!
[Chorus]
[Jay-Z]
Had a couple of meetings no offers yet,
maybe I aint good enough for these offices,
back to the drawing board ducking officers,
it’s all good cos the streets is A&R’ing this,
so with or without any of your involvement,
coming for all of this, respect my conglomerate,
I went from pauper to the President,
every deal I ever made set precedent,
lyrics courtesy of killerhiphop.com
n-ggas prob’ly thought I’d fall without ol’ buddy,
oh buddy, what i do is make more money,
Dear Teacher, your probably somewhere near a speaker,
i’m balling outta control, can you hear my sneakers,
f-ck y’all,
[Chorus]
[End]

Jay-Z takes us on another ride with this track. The moral of the story. Don’t let anyone tell you what you can or can’t do.
Pharrell was real smooth on the chorus. It needs a little tidying up so please send me your corrections and I will be on it straight away.
Let me know what you think of this track out of 10?
I would give this an 8/10. Good work Jay.

your always on point …but i think this line “I reach the ledge i’ll tell em all to eat it dead,” was supposed to be “I reach the ledge i’ll tell em all to eat a dick” he just said it in that way to keep the rhyme and flow…as always the first to get this shit on point ur on ur shit …..GOOD JOB

Good call on the ledge line. That makes more sense. Lyric updated.

It’s nice, not a fan of the chorus… Jay was on point though. Shame that I’m not feeling the chorus but it seems so damn long…
Keep feedin’ my addiction, lol.

I think in the third verse the line “every deal i made said President,”
Might actually be this: “every deal I ever made set precedent”
Great job on the lyrics!

another hit by pharrell and jay z , it was amazing . pharrell should have just left the chorus a long and just had the beat playing . the lyrics were pointless/meaningless .

I don’t care how weak Pharell’s chorus was. That line “Motivation for me is them telling me what I could not be.” is amazing. and the song has a great message! stay true to your ambitions and what you want to do and don’t let people tell you what you can’t do or can’t be. don’t let people bring you down. good job on the lyrics i’d say its pretty accurate for the most part.

Finally someone with good music taste and knows Hip-Hop 8/10 i agree or maybe 8.5 lol the song itself is real talk. Check out the review from LA Times for the album it was horrible. The sports writers for that newpaper should of wrote it lol nevertheless this song is awesome good review.

Super sick track. I say 9/10. Like that. The thing i love about this track is how the beats and the flow create an ambiance and a mood throughout. You feel submersed in the music.
Verse 1
Is: now sure if thats how adults should speak ta kids,
Should be: not sure
Is: i teach his ass
Should be:i’ll teach-his ass
Is: he might as well say beat it kid, he’s on the list,
Should be: he might as well-have-said
Verse 3:
Is: n-ggas thought I’d fall without old buddy,
Should be: n-as prob’ly thought I’d fall without ol’ buddy

should be: so they made light-a
as in made light of (trying to say made fun of), but with some swag
Again, sick track.

I don’t know whether anyone noticed, but if you listen close enough you’ll hear under the chorus pharrell sings “Fly High.”
U guys at Killer don’t have to include that on the lyrics though.
Pretty good work though.I’m especially like that you improve on the lyrics from fans suggestions.Teamwork kicks ass.
