The “kinda, sorta famous” DJ and comedian, explained how he came up with the phenomenon to his audience at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre in NYC. Noticing the parallels between hip hop and improvised comedy – i.e. thinking quickly under pressure and freestyling off the top – Cipha infused the two to present his consistently sold-out show, featuring improvised scene work from his team A Tribe Called Yes, inspired by true stories from his weekly guests.

KillerHipHop recently had the opportunity to pick the brain of entertainment attorney and owner of The Source Magazine, Londell McMillan. The iconic hip hop brand has celebrated 25 years of influencing the culture, and anticipates to continue doing so, so long as hip hop lives. In light of sustaining longevity in the ever-so-fickle media industry, Londell and his dedicated team at The Source are leveraging their influence to bring together all participants in the hip hop community to celebrate the culture at the inaugural Source 360 Annual Expo. The 3-day event kicks off this Friday 9/19 in Downtown Brooklyn’s Cultural Center, touching terrain from LIU to Barclay’s and all that’s in between. The festivities are to include a film festival, block party, panelists discussing topics from politics to technology, a concert headlined by all living members of The Wu-Tang Clan…need we say more? Hit the jump to hear more of what Londell and his team at The Source have in store for all attendees this weekend, and head on over to thesource360.com when you’re done.
On a beautiful night in November, KillerHipHop.com‘s DJ Eric Kidd had the wonderful and talented Gabbie Giftsz come perform at #OneNiteBash in Nevada Smith’s (L.E.S. NYC). As the crowd was settling in, the time of performance approached. Gabbie did three songs out of her collection of great music. She started off with “Yeah Hoe!”, then took the audience away with “Beg For It”. Last but not least, Gabbie performed her hit-single, “Fly As Fuck”. The audience was dancing and cheering as Miss. Giftsz glorious set was coming to an end.
Every Saturday, DJ Eric Kidd provides the platform for great artists to showcase their talent in NYC at #OneNiteBash. If interested, leave a comment below or hit him up on his twitter or instagram.
