Everyones favorite pretty motherf*****r recently chopped it up with Complex Magazine. During their interview they speak on Drake, fame, and groupies. In the excerpt below, the A$AP front man speaks about the tension between his crew and Odd Future.

We talked about the Hodgy Beats thing and you got interviewed a shitload about it.

No.

Is the question getting annoying for you?

It’s really irrelevant. Fuck annoying, it’s irrelevant. Put that in there. Quote: “Fuck annoying, it’s irrelevant.”

What do you see as the biggest difference between your two crews?

East Coast, West Coast. Lifestyle. Culture. Not culture, but just day-to-day, everyday shit. It’s really fucked up because I know that they don’t like us. A lot of my crew members don’t like them niggas, but I like them niggas. I’m being honest. I like them.

We’re not coming for their necks or nothing like that. Personally, like I said, I want to work with Tyler, The Creator.

Why don’t you think they like you?

Nah. I know they don’t like us.

How do you know that?

Because Hodgy went out his way to show that he doesn’t like us. He doesn’t have to like us. That’s fine with me.

Do you think they feel threatened by you guys?

I don’t know what it is. They shouldn’t because we’re not coming for their necks or nothing like that. Personally, like I said, I want to work with Tyler, The Creator.

How big do you think that could be?

I mean, I don’t really want to speak on it because it’s going to be corny. Like, if we work together, we work together. If we don’t, we don’t.

What you thought I was giving Common’s verse on “Stay Schemin” a hearse? I mean he did kill it, correct? He got Drizzy good, and most importantly he was straight up about it. No subliminal crap! That’s the ingredients for a good 1V1H, except for the fact that it’s a Drake diss. I’m not being a Drake stan either. Just ask yourself about how this beef started. Was it because of Serena Williams? Drake being soft? Or Common trying to sell albums? They’re all dumb reasons. That’s were Common loses his 1V1H points. Why is he dissing Drake?!

Why is it just now that Common chooses to make his opinions about Drake public? Drizzy has been rapping/singing for a while now. Is Com’ just trying to sell records? I don’t get it either. Everybody criticizes Drake for being soft, then when he tries to act hard, you say he’s hard. Make up your mind people. You criticize when he’s soft, and when he acts hard? Freakin’ haters.

But let’s talk about this Common verse on “Stay Schemin’”. His verse is a direct response to Drake’s verse on “Stay Schemin’”. Hence Common rapping over the same beat, and replying to Drake’s, “Don’t be ducking like you never wanted nothing” with his own, “Don’t play dumb, I’m the one that acknowledged it”. Meaning that Common was the one who acknowledged the beef in the first place, and that he isn’t ducking anybody, because he’s obviously here replying. Common really put Aubs in his place with that line. That wasn’t all though. No sir! Common then responds to, “Shawty wanna tell me secrets ’bout a rap nigga I tell a bitch its more attractive when you hold it down” with, “Can’t say my name but rap about a niggas wife”. Whether they’re talking about Serena Williams is up to you, but I think the odds are 55/45, since neither side has directly confirmed it. Anyways, we can infer that Serena Williams wanted to tell Drake about Common’s secrets, but Drizzy refused to hear it and just told her to hold it down. Common simply says that Drake isn’t man enough to say his name, yet he talks about his wife. Woah. Now if I’m hearing it right Common just called Serena Williams his wife? Well, no wonder he’s furious. I love this back and forth though; it isn’t like most diss tracks where one dude mostly insults the other guy by calling him names. He actually addresses Drake’s lines. Common saves the best for last with, “You ain’t wet nobody, nigga, you Canada Dry”. Days later, I’m still laughin’. Translated, Common is saying that Drake has never physically hurt anyone. Not only is he dry, he’s also pop soda. As if that line wasn’t enough he exits with a Destiny Child sample telling Drizzy to, “Say my name, say my name”. Once again, exposing Drake for being subliminal and never calling him out by name. At the same time it’s a parody on Drake’s frequent use of singing in his songs. How can you say Common didn’t kill Drake with this verse?

Still, at the end of the day this is a lame DRY beef, because nobody even knows what they’re really fighting about. Common is also losing a lot of respect for all this negativity. We’re used to Common being more positive in this music. Something must be bothering him a whole lot. Although Common burned Drake, he’s the only one losing here. Drake surely isn’t losing any fans. People criticizing right now have always criticized, and aren’t saying anything besides “Drake is soft blah blah blah”. Plus, Fox News is never letting Common go back to the White House after calling someone a “Hoe ass nigga”. Common’s “Stay Schemin’” remix was funny though. I’m still laughin’ about this Canada Dry line. As far as Drake responding to this diss? Keep dreaming, stop believing.

PS. Do you know how they got the name for Canada Dry? Beacause it’s from Canada of course, and it’s dry, as in NOT sweet in comparison to other drinks. So Common is actually saying that Drake isn’t sweet, which contradicts “Sweet”. FAIL or what? That’s also why Com’ didn’t get the entire 1V1H. Either way, it’s still funny.

What was the worst thing about Hip-Hop in 2011? All of the lame subliminal disses. Without a doubt! For an industry of full of hard, mean, shoot your body up rappers we had a ton of lame subliminal diss tracks. Even Common jumped on the bandwagon towards the end of the year. If you’re going to diss someone, diss them! Say their name on the track. Jump in the ring, don’t dance around it. Hit ‘em with that bada boom boii. You’re killin’ me.

I guess it’s what we get when we teach children to run away from bullies instead of confronting their fears. You can’t run to a teacher or principal in real life sonny boy. People are going to try to bully you. You’re going to have to stand up for yourself. We’re raising wimps. Anyways, that’s a topic for another day, and another place. The point is that Hip-Hop is full of wimps. Probably because of the school system which taught them. I’m not asking for rappers or people in general to act like gangsters, and be bad asses either. I just want for rappers to not be wimps about calling someone out, and stop doing lame “diss” tracks with a bunch of subliminal jabs. If you’re not going to say anybodies name, don’t even bother. Holla at Game for some lessons. The dude is a master at calling people out on tracks.

Then you guys go blaming bloggers for starting beefs? What are people supposed to think when a rapper says “boii” in a Big Sean accent, after lines such as, “get it while you’re here boii, ’cause all that hype don’t feel the same next year, boii”. Am I on one or something? That was just one example too. We had at least one of those every month this year. Lame subliminal disses, you’re killin’ me.

Once again I’m not calling for rappers to be violent, and start beefs. Just that if you’re going to start a beef, start it, don’t half cook it. Stop it with these lines with double meanings. You rappers know exactly what you’re doing; it’s no accident. If you mention The Throne of course we’re going to think of Jay and Kanye. Don’t be stupid. Mention peoples name on tracks. You’re killin’ me.

Well things just got a lot more interesting. Just yesterday Drake threatened to “f-ck up” the tattoo artist who tatted “DRAKE” on a girls forehead. Kevin Campbell the artist, has responded to Aubrey via twitter, and apparently accepts his fight request. He even told Aubrey to name a date and time. Jeez, hopefully nobody catches a body like that.

“Drake” Tattoo Artist Responds To Drake

Damn that wasn’t weird, right? One day I wake up to a J. Clone diss by Canibus. Next day I wake up to an awkward apology video by the same guy. It’s been a few days since, and I’m still scratching my head. ‘Bus how are you going to diss someone for liking you, and why would you diss someone only to apologize a day later. Do you ever think about what you’re doing? Also, please don’t script your apology videos. What was that? Uh uh, don’t answer. You’re killin’ me.

“J. Clone” was a horrible diss track; an embarrassment to Canibus’ career. Why are you going to diss someone for liking you? J. Cole was a huge fan! Hey, @DinaSmiles106 you suck! You too @aquangb. HA! It doesn’t make sense! In the song, he quotes J. Cole saying that “[Canibus] is my favorite rapper of all time”. Like J. Clone says, “We had dreams just to make it up the flagpole, just to find out that our heroes are some assholes”. Ah, Canibus, Canibus, you’re killin’ me.

Then there’s that crappy creepy apology video. I felt like I was getting Herman Cain’d after watching that video. Sexually harassed for those non-political, foreign folks out there. I know, that was a good joke huh? Anyways, wow those stares. Was he also reading a script or something? He had like 5 takes of a damn apology? He sounds all serious too, “I take full responsibility for my actions, and I apologize for stepping over the line…I made this video in an effort to turn it around, and man up for my mistake”. Damn Canibus who did you rape? Oh yea, never mind. Who did you kill? Not even Joe Paterno made a video like that. Jeez. Aside from it being creepy, and over the top, that apology was so scripted. Just from the many takes, I can tell that he’s just trying to regain his cole cool points. He’s not speaking from the heart. Canibus, so just because your track got negative feedback you choose to retract? Stick to your guns bro. What did you think was going to happen, it’s a Cole World right now! You would’ve been better off joining forces with Cole, that would’ve been dope. That apology did nothing to rectify the situation, it only embarrassed you more.

I respected Canibus too. Why did he have to open his mouth? You could say that he was just trying to get attention. But, really? The diss track was horrible, and the apology video was even worse. It was not G. It was not G (clears throat). Not G. It was not G. You’re the champ J, and you didn’t even have to rap one bar. You don’t owe anybody anything either.

Canibus, you’re killin’ me.
