BET Bans Nicki Minaj’s “Stupid Hoe” Music Video

February 1, 2012 · Posted in news · 21 Comments

TMZ has learned that BET has banned Nicki Minaj’s “Stupid Hoe” music video. Sources close to BET claim that the music video was simply too explicit for TV. Is BET being stupit, stupit, stupit, stupit, or is the video really just too explicit?

    @Lol Omg,

What are you talking about? He’s a hip hop blogger/reporter. Is this not Hip Hop news? He’s doing exactly what he is supposed to do. Why did you bother reading and commenting if this was something you weren’t interested in?

This goes to show that people always have something negative to say. SMH

No they’re doing the right thing.
I mean I don’t get what’s up with YMCMB. Drake and Common. Nicki and Lil Kim or whatever.
I’m a fan of all four of those artists but YMCMB is really just getting cocky.

And this music video was so retarded.
She’s the only one calling someone out to get attention at this point, stop being so hypocritical.

I’m personally not a fan of Nicki Minaj.
Even though her lyrics are (a little) explict and the video was just a little too much, she’s not doing anything different than her fellow YMCMB rappers.

The video is riduculous but, if it were Lil Wayne saying all of the same stuff and having the same type of video, would he be questioned/banned?

    I doubt it.

Agreed on the Music Video being kinda crazy, and the constant use of the word hoe repeatedly was kinda annoying, but this is the same channel that used to air Uncut late night. Then again, that shit’s banned too. Lol

I feel like Drake is carrying YM right now and right before the Carter IV, Wayne kinda gave it to him. I heard I Am Not A Human Being 2 is coming out too though so, that’ll be dope. Common needed publicity and he got it. -_-

I think this was a smart move by BET. If they would of played this terrible song/music video I KNOW for a fact they would have lost a good amount of viewers and not even for the fact that the song is terrible but because of the use of the word “Hoe” so much.

this is what rap has come to? I lost all faith in rap because everyone these days are fake and rap about the same thing in every song. Might as well put every track on repeat. Old School rap actually got some sort of message across instead of these dumb songs about having sex and getting money

Its not the fact of her sucking ass as far as the music goes her promo songs for her album always suck just like massive attack but its the fact that his does she expect to get promo with a song titled stupid hoe it’s like me dropping a song called juicy pussy they not gone play that shit she wasn’t smart with the title or the message she’s sending to the ppl that watch BET cause YMCMB just make anything now cause the world was on their nut sack a lil to hard now they feel like they’re unstoppable so its really our fault

Her music and video is very avant garde and at most, borderline kitsch. I find it ironic that they’re quick to police videos by female artists yet allowed trash like “No Hands” and Tyga’s latest music to get exposure. Note that the closest thing to being explicit in this video is really nothing more than a plastic barbie doll in a strobe shot. Risque, but hardly banworthy (and the lyrics themselves can be edited or censored).

Not that TV matters much anymore now that we have the internet. All this will do is give them more exposure.

The beat was bad, the lyrics were terrible and the chorus was even worse. She fell off HARD with this song.

Shit, I don’t even watch Black Exploitation Television. But with a song THAT terrible, you’d think it was about her.
