Artwork: Game – Jesus Piece

Oh God, Game isn’t playing around. Jesus Piece is going to be a religious themed album. A few weeks back he told Rap-Up that Jesus Piece was going to explore the relationships between the streets and his faith. On the album cover, we can see a black Jesus with a tattoo tear, a red bandana, and a gold chain. The cover definitely merges religion with the streets, but does it go too far? Jesus Piece is due out later this year.

@nope, He has a colt following so the quality of the music doesn’t matter, really. He’ll always go platinum. I’m listening to the album as we speak and I like what I hear so far.

Can I raise an intresting point. . . Rappers who profess to be Muslim never take their religious iconography and mix it up or take away from its orginal intent or from its presumed ‘sacredness’. When is the line of artistic freedom drawn??

@MosDef,
indeed, obviously it’s an interesting paradox but to make an entire album bout it?
& the cover obviously implies this album won’t be serious, for example his latest single has nothing to do with the concept of his album, just like the red album was filled with a 1000 features & r&bhooks that didn’t make sense artistically…

@no, agree. Rappers can’t even take the time to make a good album with a good concept. Just like u said in other words red was a below average album just like alot of these rappers that come out with an album with a bunch of songs just thrown on there. A black Jesus with a tear drop and bandana and marijuana??

@MosDef,
that’s why I like TDE, not that they’re the only good artists right now. but they really give us cohesive pieces of work, even when Q makes a stoner album it’s still quality music
I do think Game just wants to drop an album & move to another label like YMCMB, where he’ll just become more & more irrelevant but still get big cheques
WAAAAACK. Game took Bishop Lamont’s The Confessional cover concept. This is biting at its worst. Damn Game! http://www.dubcnm.com/cdcovers/bishop_lamont-the_confessional_l.jpg

Word, as a rapper the dudes got soild flow n punch lines thats why i fuck wit em, n his real songs with meanings he dont market as much cause they on mixtapes n lets face it most songs that require or inspire thought dont sell now a days, plus i like the fact how he can take otha artists ideas n mold it in his own way to show respect (bone thugs), or diss em (Otis), say what you want about how he markets but dont hate this guy still smash most emcees n otha then his mainstream cuts, the rest of his shit out taday is soild, and as far as mainstream cuts today go il take Game’s over Drake, Wayne, Wiz, or 2 chainz’s any day

@mike,
(the city & martians vs. goblins were dope though)
so basically you’re saying he’s trying to stay relevant
like he did with the 1000features on his previous album & guess what his latest single has too many features as well
only way he’s getting noticed nowadays is by getting in fights & if you think he delivered on the red album then you don’t know hiphop
I used to be a game fan, but he’s been putting out bad music, those are the facts

@no,
you must be a 14 year old kid if you think those were the only dope tracks on red . The Good Bad & Ugly , Ricky and born in da trap are superdope and among the best rap records of 2011, he does crazy storytelling on good bad and ugly sicne u speak about facts. i dont even want to ask who you listen to because i already can guess.
and of course hes tryin to stay relevant , hes trying to do new things and being creative and at least this album has a concept , which more rap albums should have. basically all im tryin to say is u guys should stop actin like yall know everything bout hiphop , cause you obvsly dont.
stop catching feelings kids!
